Dead pixel failure repairs on Mercedes dashboard instrument cluster
Mercedes E class W210, C class W202, Vito and A class speedometers all have the common dead / fading / disappearing pixels on the instrument cluster, on the LCD display that shows the outside temperature and the time, some cases the milage and gears. The pixel problem lies with the ribbon cable / flat cable that connects the LCD display to the circuit board of the instrument cluster. The pictures below show the instrument cluster's LCD display before and after the ribbon / falt cable replacement (just an example of several board computer / dashboard instrument cluster types):
before pixel repairs - visible pixel failure
after pixel failure repairs - new ribbon cable applied
You will find ribbon cables / flat cables for the following models / units below:
--> Mercedes E class speedo with dead LCD pixels
--> Mercedes C class speedometer with dead or fading CLD display
--> Mercedes A class instrument cluster with missing pixels
--> Mercedes Vito dashboard instrument cluster with LCD display failure
If you see "bond-less" in the item description, then you buy a ribbon cable which does not have to be soldered in - in can be replaced simply without a soldering iren or other special tools.
If you see "heat seal connector", then you will also need a soldering iron, and a "T head" to solder the ribbon cable in.
